Project Porch Portraits
During the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the country was ordered to shelter in place. Many empty nesters suddenly had their college-age fledglings return, instantly doubling the normal occupancy of a household – literally overnight.
Families everywhere, now having exhausted most options of keeping busy and entertained at home, were welcoming something new to do safely while in isolation. Many photographers, most out of jobs due to the nature of their business, along with the restrictions placed by the government, were just wanting to take pictures. Thus, the concept of “porch portraits” (AKA “porchtraits”) was born – photographs taken of a family (or individual) on their porch while in isolation during the coronavirus Safer-at-Home order. Project Complete!
It was truly a great experience getting the opportunity to meet new neighbors in town during this pandemic, and most of all, to have the privilege of capturing them with my camera, but now I must focus on searching for actual work that will allow me to pay the bills and rent. With that said, I will no longer be taking any more porch portraits, but if you wish to schedule a paid session (outdoor only, until the stay-at-home order is lifted), then please contact me.
